Gallery Walk

First Friday of the Month

Gallery Walk gives an opportunity to stroll beautiful downtown Hot Springs and enjoy some of the finest contemporary art in America. The art galleries that sparkle like a fine necklace are located in the heart of the Victorian downtown district. They stay open until 9 p.m., often with music and complimentary refreshments. The artists whose works are on display also turn out to chat with visitors to the galleries. Don't miss this monthly opportunity to enjoy the arts that earned Hot Springs the No. 4 ranking in the Top 100 Small Art Towns in America.

Antique/Boutique Row (100-200) Block of Historic Downtown Central Avenue is one of Hot Springs' most popular destinations and features Antique/Boutique Walk each month on the third Friday evening from 4-8 pm. It is the place to be for that one-of-a-kind treasure, antiques, fine art, clothing, dazzling jewelry, specialty foods, plus unique gifts for the home and garden. Oaklawn Park's 2012 live racing season begins!

Regular schedule will continue to be Thursdays through Sundays. 

Additional days are:
Mon, Jan 16 for Martin Luther King Day.
Mon, Jan 20 for Presidents Day
Wed, Apr 11 as part of the Racing Festival of the South.

The track will be dark on Sun, April 8, in observance of Easter.

Odyssey's SHIPWRECK! Pirates & Treasures

is proud to host this exciting special Exhibition in the spring & summer of 2012

This exhibit encompasses 8,000 sq ft and features more than 500 authentic artifacts recovered by Odyssey from various shipwrecks in the Atlantic Ocean, the English Channel & Mediterranean Sea.  It takes visitors through the thrilling quest to discover the ocean's greatest shipwreck stories & treasures.  It fuses history, science & technology into an exciting educational experience through the use of interactive elements & real life treasure displays from some of the most extraordinary shipwrecks in the world!

  • A fascinating behind-the-scenes look at the research & technology used to locate shipwrecks & a unique opportunity to be involved in hands-on activities relating to shipwreck exploration

You can register to win valuable prizes. Boat and RV manufacturers will have factory reps on hand to answer questions regarding Boat’s and RV’s.

Sun Belt Dribble Drive to the Summit

3rd Annual Sun Belt Dribble Drive to the Summit

Starts at Hill Wheatly Plaza

Registration that morning opens at 10:00 a.m. or register in advance on the website listed above.

The Dribble Drive to the Summit will feature kindergarten through eighth grade children dribbling basketballs through a quarter mile stretch of downtown Hot Springs. 

It will begin at Hill Wheatly Plaza with the kids being asked to participate in basit basketball drills.  Then, they will dribble their new basketball down the street to the Hot Springs convention Center.

Registered participants will receive a free Sun Belt Conference prize pack consisting of a t-shirt, basketball & complimentary tickets to the first session games.  Each participating child will receive a ticket for one accompanying parent.

Dribblers & parents are encouraged to stay for the games & participate in on-court activities.  Participants will also have the opportunity to enjoy a number of kid-friendly concourse activities inside the Convention Center.

This event will consist of award winning professional bbq teams which actively travel the KCBS circuit. These teams have competed, and defeated many of the nationally known bbq cooks seen on such popular television shows as TLC's Pittmasters. They will be on hand to cook the four food items required of a Kansas City BBQ Society sanctioned events: pork ribs, chicken, pork butt, and beef brisket. And to add an interesting coup' d gras, the Culinary District will be offering a BBQ plate lunch special which these Pit Master's will prepare.  

Meet KCBS certified judges. Find out what the holy trinity of bbq competition involves: Appearance, Tenderness, and Taste. Many local teams such as Burn One BBQ, Cowboy Q, Tater 2, and the Southern Krunk BBQ Society will be on hand as well as teams from outside Garland County such as Allen's Smokey Pit BBQ and others.
